One of my cats, a maine-coon is ill. he is down to 3.98 Kgs, he has been vomiting up most meals for 3 months now. If he can keep the food down his stool is like water. The doctors aren't sure what it is.

It is just sad.

I really love this cat.

The Woman Is Not Really Crying

Charcoal and acrylic on paper pasted on reclaimed lumber, mounted on oak panel.
29 x 42 inches.

This is a commissioned piece, but is also a study for an upcoming collage which will be half the size of the study. The woman being portrayed is a reference to the Genét play The Maids and is one of 3 figures in the composition. It was a tendency of Genét's work to draw attention to the fact of what was real and what was not, hence the title.

No. 9, No. 9, No. 9...

Eliot Spitzer
Digital collage face from flickr photos.
8.5 x 11 inches

I was in such shock when I heard the news, as I am sure most of New York was. And I have to say I feel sort of sorry for the guy. Not that he got caught, but that he has to have his flaws thrown around publicly for the rest of his life. I decided to show a bit of one of his eyes in this piece, as I feel like the veil to his personality has been lifted, this tragic downfall has made him most human. I was really struck by this when I saw the photo from his first press conference and his face seemed to be collapsing in on itself in anger.

The Daily Draw 3.5.08

Back to the grindstone.

Had the stomach flu for the past 4 days.

I noticed something really interesting today on the train. At least 50 percent of the people around me were wearing Oxford shirts, opened at the collar with a medium weight scarf wrapped loosely on the outside of their coats.

There was something about this repetition that I found extremely interesting.

On a note about the flu, I had a most extraordinary experience during it that I can say I have never encountered before. I had a bout of sleep paralysis. I woke from a dream that I was being choked on a subway car seat(see it does tie into subway drawing somewhat), this black shape I assume was an arm came from behind and moved across my throat. I woke to find I was back in my room, my eyes open, but I could not move anything except my eyes for about 30 seconds. It was terrifying as I literally had to hurl my body up to regain control. But it was fascinating for these exact reasons, the disconnect that can occur between mind and body.
